Ministry teams - Social Concerns & Missions
Purpose
1. To proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by engaging in
mission, assisting the human development towards the improvement of
human relations, to meet human needs through and other worthy service
(excerpts from the Basis if Union - UCA)
2. To address social issues that affects both the material and spiritual
life of the community, therefore working towards the improvement and the
sustaining of life as a whole.
3. To be sensitive and responsive to the needs of the marginalised
sector of the Australian community by creating a strong outreach program
addressing those in great need.
Program &
Activities
Sponsor a child
in the Philippines, through World Vision (being undertaken through
Youth Ministries)
Support Sunshine
Mission through the donation of canned goods, used clothing and
volunteer-work
Plan to continue
to support the Sunshine Mission, financially
Fundraising
activities such as the Sacrificial Dinner. (Proceeds from the evening
dinner went to a scholarship fund for ministers in the Philippines)
Nursing home
visitations, to spread God's love through the singing of songs and
interaction with the elderly in the homes. Usually takes place during
Mothers Day, Fathers Day and the Christmas season (also being
undertaken through Youth Ministries)
Participates in
both Christmas Bowl Appeal and Lenten Appeal
Develop and
sponsor forums on pressing current issues in the community
To assist new
arrivals/immigrants in seeking out and using services available to
them, and to help them settle into their respective new homes and
lifestyle.
Plans are under
way to conduct outreach in Caroline Springs through weekly Bible
studies and fellowship and ongoing Adult Bible study.
Continuing
support to the Mission Service Fund of the Synod.
