Ministry teams - Pastoral Care

Purpose & Program

The Pastoral Care ministry team provides care and support for all the members of the Congregation, through prayer, visitation and listening. Three visitation teams are assigned to Melbourne suburban areas where our members reside. East visitation team consists of two church elders, who collectively aim to visit all members in a more organised way. However, these visitations are not exclusive to church members alone, but also to newcomers or visitors who worship with us throughout the year.

Every quarter, the whole team meets to share and discuss their visitation experiences. This meeting may also coincide with a joint meeting with the Youth's Pastoral Care team. Individually and together, the congregational and youth pastoral care teams work hand-in-hand to fulfil their responsibilities, some of which are stated here below:

Activities

  • To visit the sick and pray for their recovery, as well as to comfort their family
  • To assist the needy in whatever way necessary, be it in a spiritual, physical, emotional or financial need
  • To bring Communion to the homes of sick members
  • To work hand-in-hand with the Youth worker and the Youth Pastoral care team in regards to youth issues
  • To visit and pray for single parents, and help out with any of their needs and problems
  • To establish a ministry for the elderly and help organise bible study
  • Identify problems of members that require professional handling and refer them to appropriate agencies
  •
